![]() ![]() That $300/month always goes right back into recording/releasing and a good $800/year I'd say goes to submit hub to promote various singles/albums. Full disclosure, I work full time at Trader Joe's since I only make $300/month from the 60,000 streams per month I get from Spotify. I'm still VERY unknown though, which is why I always lurk here for any tips with anything from recording to promotion to songwriting, since I do everything myself. Thanks! I really appreciate that cause it's taken a ton of hard work and a TON of hard earned money to get somewhere. So all in all, I think it's still a way better move to use Submit hub than anything else out there because that's still a lot more press and playlisting than I would've gotten with $2,500 for 2 months with a press agency. Side note: Just for transparency, I looked up my overall numbers for the past 4 years of using Submit hub and it says I've spent 2,795 premium credits (about $2,500) with 112 total approvals (5%). It just sucks that the only other alternative is paying $1,500/month for a press agency or doing facebook/instagram marketing. I still use it every time I release a single because it's MUCH cheaper than paying for a press agency, but with that said my songs still get declined 95% of the time. If they don't inherently love it, they'll reject it. It's just people like you or me that just like what they like. With that said, I've had some amazing experiences with certain bloggers on there though, so overall I think it's worth it. This happened MANY times with my most popular songs. One of my songs that now has 640,000 streams on Spotify, got on many playlists and got featured in a major movie got rejected by almost every single person on submithub. And definitely don't take it personally if they all reject your song. Yeah I wouldn't put a whole lot of stock in Submithub. Hopefully this will help someone save some money out there. Please if you’re reading this, do yourself a favour and do not use SubmitHub. These curators are just looking to get paid, that’s why they’re on the site to begin with. Which is why you have to search manually! Only you (as the artist) will know which playlist will likely be interested in your song. SubmitHub does NOT know what kind of music you make. Submithub does not find these playlists for me. ![]() If this is a not a big red flag then I don’t know what is. When I search for playlist in contemporary R&B, all I see is, “This curator has approved 12000 songs and 10 of them are R&B”. You can compile a much more effective list of Spotify playlist on your own. You’re only using submit hub because you’re lazy. They get too many horrible submissions, meaning hitting the decline button becomes a subconscious decision before they even get a chance to listen. You don’t get any playlist who are 100% focused on your genre therefor there’s a really good chance they’ll pass on your single. ![]()
